Review: E.L.F. eyebrow kit in light

Hi lovelies :)

Here's another makeup review for you guys, the E.L.F. eyebrow kit in light.

Actual photo of the product. ( I forgot to take a picture of the product alone)

This is one of the make up products that I purchased in Manila, yes in Manila pa since I didn't really know that we have it here na pala in Iloilo until last week.

When I tested out the product at the counter, I really liked how the gel matches my skin tone and I immediately thought that this would help me a lot in defining my brows everyday. I have really thin eyebrows, blame it on my genes and not on plucking. (I got this from mama! I got it from my mama! I got it, I got it)

This is how the product looks like.

I am glad that it came with an applicator which makes it easy to carry around especially during a slumber party with friends or a night out somewhere.

But, pffft! :P The applicator is too small for my big hands. I use my Marionnaud N38 instead, since I also use the mascara brush on the other end to comb my brows for a more even application.

See? it's too cute :)

(from left to right)

1. Gel with the powder.
2. Powder alone.
3. Gel alone using the applicator that came with the eyebrow kit.
4. Gel alone using my Marionnaud N38.

See the difference of the applicators? If I use the one that came with the kit, man it will take me 10 years before I finish my brows.

What I like about the product:

  • The product stays longer compared to my Nichido eyebrow pencil that I have used before.
  • I do like the lipstick smell. lol
  • It's fills up the gaps on my brows perfectly.
What I don't like about the product:
  • The super small applicator.
  • The powder is too light for me, I don't use it. I stick with the gel.
  • If I put the powder on top of the gel, my brows look to hairy.
  • The fact that there was no other shades available.
Over - all:

I have been using this for around 2 - 3 weeks already and so far so good. I don't think it's the perfect eyebrow kit for me since I don't use the powder at all. It's a waste of money. I don't use too much of it since I don't want to like an orangutan :)

Will I repurchase?

If it's available on a darker shade (the powder alone), yes I will :)

So what's your favorite eyebrow kit? Would you like to recommend one for me?

Btw, I am in a huge battle right now. Me versus my pimples! :( I wanted to show you guys how it looks like when applied to brows, but I just can't. My face is filled with pimples right now. and the derm option products doesn't seem to work. they irritate me so freaking bad. I guess I now have sensitive/oily skin. crap!
If you know somebody who has oily/sensitive skin like me, please share their skin care regimen. I just purchased celeteque this morning. I do hope this will tame my pimples. ..

Much love love love,

Peepir

Reason for the lack of of post.

I know it's been more than a week since I posted here. Well, the main reason is that I attended a BLS / SFAT training in Red Cross Iloilo Chapter. The training was strenuous, by the end of 6 days my whole body was aching but honestly, I ENJOYED everything to bits.

From now on, whenever RED CROSS needs my help, I will definitely be willing to give out a helping hand. :) Ill do reviews on beauty products again once I'm done fixing my room.

Review: Wet n' Wild Ultimate Match Liquid Foundation in nude

Actual photo.

Product Description:

Trying to blend the foundation. (whoops! too much for a swatch!)

When blended.

(Upper hand: no foundation
Lower hand: with foundation)

This product was a part of my Manila Haul. I was able to purchase this because my bezt who served as my tour guide that night was looking for a concealer. She was asking me on what concealer would best suit her not only in skin tone but her lifestyle as well. She works at a clinic and she's always in a rush. I have known her for years now and I know that she's impatient when it comes to applying make up.

After trying on different products at the counter (Beauty by SM at SM North Edsa), she finally settled with Wet n Wild's since it was only for 299. :) While I was waiting for her to finally make up her mind, I was trying on some swatches and I found this. I got interested because of it's super light-weight formula, which I think is a first for me. So there we go paying for them at the counter.

What I like about the product:
  • It is indeed light weight. It's like as if you're not wearing any foundation at all.
  • It has spf 15, which is already good for a foundation that's only worth 499.
  • Amongst the other foundations I have swatched on my skin, this is probably that one that matched my skin tone, even if I got one shade lighter. And my friend who is a morena found one that matched her perfectly.
  • A little amount goes a long way. Tipid.
  • This is best for high school or college students who can't resist to wear make up in school even if they are not allowed to.
  • It's also best for those who need to wear make up to work but aren't too comfortable with the full coverage that other foundations provide.
  • After application, it definitely gives me that glowing look as what the product promised. Not the oily look.
  • Very easy to blend with fingers. Especially when you re in a rush.
  • It smells nice compared to my Sophie Paris Liquid Foundation.
What I don't like about the product:
  • Does not have that long staying power. I sweat a lot, so by the end of the day, I don't have this foundation on my skin anymore.
  • It's in a glass bottle. I find it difficult to pour on the back of my hands as well as on the mixing plate.
  • Oily skinned women might find this too greasy.
Over all:

I will still use this foundation, especially on those days when I have to fix myself up sooo fast and during those days when it's just to deym hot outside. Since I sweat a lot under my eyes, on my nose, chin and upper lip, I use this with a little technique that my gay friend taught me.

Tips:

It would be helpful to store this product upside down, instead of just letting it stand since it's in a thick bottle. It's best applied with a stippling brush. For those with oily skin, it is best to let the product dry in front of a fan before finishing it with a loose powder.

Will I repurchase?

Not for now, but if they repack this in a squeezable one, yes definitely. I will try to look for one that will match the benefits that this product gives me, but if I can't find one that can compare with it, then I'll try to search for a way to purchase this.

Thank you so much for reading my blog!

Much love,
Peepir

I am sure hoping to win on these. lol

Manila Haul

I love Manila!!! Mainly because of the different shopping malls that stands just about anywhere. If i am working in Manila and I own a credit card, definitely I'd be broke 1 day after payday.

It's best to describe myself as a shoppingera. However, I'm still in a level that I can control my spending. I usually pay my debts (laptop, electric bills, Innove bills and postpaid plan) the moment I have cash on hand. So that I could already freely spend what's left in my pocket. It's annoying to shop around when you know there is something that you need to pay first. I think it's called nagdadalawang isip. It's really bothersome, ya know.

Anyway, when I was in Manila. I grabbed the opportunity to buy things that I know i can't find here in Iloilo. Here are my few purchases:

Hygiene purchases:
Elianto's Natural Beauty Green Tea & Chamomile (they were on sale for 299 php instead of 499 php)
L'oreal Elseve Smooth Intense Nutri-smoothing mask (29.75 php)
Honeybee ballistic from Lush (200 - 250 php)

Make up purchases:
wet n' wild Ultimate match in Nude 854A (499 php)
Elf Eyebrow Kit in Light (249 php)

Fashion purchases:
Necklace from Divisoria (100 php)
Fall bracelet from divisoria (80 php)
Forever 21 sunglasses (365 php)

I am loving the bracelet. :) I wore for it for about 5 times already eversince I went home. lol

Here's a closer picture.

Lovely, isn't it? The flowers are like pale pink peach and the brownish gold stones. Of course they are fake. lol I will do reviews on the make up and the beauty purchases within this month.

Hope to see you around till then ladies! :)

Thank you.

Much love, Peepir

Review: Pond's pure white deep cleansing facial foam

Remember my blog post about my watson's 3 day sale at SM? The pond's pure white deep cleansing facial foam was a part of my haul. They were sold 2 for 154.75 which makes them about 80 pesos each. That's a steal, right?

I tested this product for 7 days straight. 6 days in Manila and 1 day here in Iloilo.

Product says:

New Pond's Pure White Facial Foamis formulated with Active Carbon. The activated carbon is known to easily absorb and lift away the dirt and impurities from skin surface and deep within pores. Cleanses your face thoroughly to reveal your natural pure white looking skin.
  • Contains Activated Carbon
  • Easily absorbs and lifts away impurities
  • Helps to cleanse your face thorughly.
  • Reveals your natural pure white looking skin
What I like about this product:
  • It's really foamy. I only use squeeze out a small amount, and I can already massage it on my whole face.
  • I actually like the perfume scent. I can't describe the exact scent though, but it is something that's not overpowering.
  • The gray color of the foam is really cute. Unique.
  • I didn't have any complains for the straight 6 days that I am using it.
  • No break-outs.
  • After rinsing off, my skin was smooth and sleek.
What I don't like about this product:
  • On my 7th day of using it, man! my face was stinging. I had to wash my face off immediately.
Over-all:

I feel sad for the product. I was expecting for it to do good because of the black packaging and gray content, which makes it look so inviting while having that hey-buy-me-i'm-cool look. Maybe, my face was just sensitive to it and it just wasn't too sensitive to react on the first use. I recommend this to those without sensitive skin like my mom, because she is not experiencing any reactions to it. In fact, she's still using it until now. I'll be giving my share of the product to my cousin and see if she's ok with the product. Sayang naman eh. :)

Will I repurchase?

No. :)

Note: My sensitivity reaction to this product is only good for my skin type. It does not necessarily mean that you will have the same reaction to it too.

How about you? Have you tried this product? Did it do you any good? :)

Thank you so much for reading my blog!

Much love,

Peepir

October 19 - 24, 2010

MANILA. MANILA. MANILA.

I have so wanted to visit Manila ever since I was little (lol! Have I ever been little?!). The fact that it's flooded with shopping malls makes me so want to save to purchase items which I can only buy there.

Finally, my dreams of stepping into the lands of Manila came true. Cebu Pacific had a sale and we were able to grab some tickets. My mom needed to fix her GSIS records anyways, so I guess it's an opportunity that we just had to grab.

I find Manila very busy. lol. :) I am a probinsyana, so it's a lot different here. We went to Divisoria to purchase affordable items to serve as pasalubong and was able to successfully tour like half of SM Mall of Asia in one day. I also loved SM Megamall even if I almost got lost. lol :P

These are my top 3 shops that I liked:
  1. Marionnaud (even if almost everything is E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E.)
  2. Watson's (there are brands and items that are available in Manila only and not here)
  3. Papemelroti (cause I adore keeping cute stuffs)
Enough of my intro, let's proceed to photos.

Romney, my cousin. He stays in Makati.

one of Jose Rizal's books

another one

and another one.

The first publication of Noli Mi Tangere

a weird tree. I dislike this kind of trees. I feel like they will eat me alive.

Fort Santiago, entrance to where Jose Rizal was imprisoned.

a lady who explained stuffs regarding Fort Santiago. I was too busy looking around to pay attention. sorry :)

Kalesa. The horse. Honestly, I pity them. It was toooooo hot that day and seeing them drooling is like a pain in my heart. I can definitely tell that they are having a hard time since their tongue can't move freely and they can't swallow properly. which I think is the main reason why they are drooling. :'(

The fountain in front of Manila Cathedral.

Fountain too.

Manila Cathedral.
me and my mom.

my bestfriend, Siz.. She works in Manila while I am here in Iloilo. I am missing her. :(

Thank you very much for reading my blog! :)

much love,

Watson's Haul (SM 3 day sale)

Remembering the 15% off tag of L'oreal and 20% off tag of Maybelline during the 3 days sale of Sm last October 14 - 16, I really can't help but sigh. Oh! and the Sm Advantage card holders also get additional 8 - 10% off if they get to pay for their items before 11 noon. Isn't that amazing?? Too bad for me though, since I cannot purchase everything that I have been eyeing. I didn't have enough cash (since I'm trying to hold on to what I have for a Manila trip, that's tomorrow) and I am already running out of my skin care things.

FYI: I am posting this pictures to show the ones that I have been purchasing regularly and to show some items that I haven't tried yet and was too curious to see how it goes on me. This is not to brag about anything. :) alrighty?

Here are the products that I purchased:

1. Pond's pure white deep cleansing facial foam with activated carbon + vitamin b3 - The only reason why I got this is because it's buy 1 take 1. lol! Wanted to try this out for myself and see how it works. Review soon. (Lady E of bits&treats already did a review about it though)

2. Cream Silk in Pink - It was 2 for 150. So cheap. I really think that it doesn't do any wonderful effects on my hair, but it is something that I could use on a daily basis. I am kuripot like that.

3. Mitchum Roll on antiperspirant and deodorant - This is the only deodorant that could leave my armpits dry the whole day no matter how much I sweat. (yes, cause I am sensitive to heat and I do sweat a lot). I admit though that it does damage my clothes on the armpit area because of its aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly content which is 20%. That's why I only use this if I know that I'll be out for the whole day.

4. Nivea Visage Refreshing Toner - I use this after washing my face at night, to completely remove any traces of make up. It's really mild and I love how clean my face looks and feels after.

5. Johnson's Baby Powder - This is the product that I really couldn't live without since I use this on my neck area when the weather is just too hot. It's something that can cool me down.

6. Caronia Tan Nail Polish - I wanted to polish my nails with something that could match all of my outfits that I will use when I'm in Manila.

7. Maybelline (I forgot the rest of the name) - I am loving this! haha! I got for 179 instead of 249 :) will do a review about it. So please watch out for that.

8. N37 Eyes by Marionnaud - I love putting darker eyeshadows on my crease to give me that depth that I really want in my eyes, and I think this is the cheapest one out there that could help me.

9. Maybelline Compact in Natural - my mom repurchased this thing for 2 times already. I wonder what's so good with this one. hmmm.. :)

So, I guess that's it!. I am happy with the things that I purchased. I am kinda sad that I wasn't able to purchase LULUR and the cuddles cotton pads, but I am also happy since I was able to keep my money and use it in Manila instead ( I might find something more worthy).

I'll be off to Manila tomorrow (october 19) until Sunday (October 24), so expect my blog to be full of Manila pictures. I might do hauls or reviews as well though. Come what may. :)

Thank you so much for visiting my blog!

Much love,
